Reflexive and emphatic pronouns – Malayalam Notes

Learn reflexive and emphatic pronouns with English and Malayalam notes, natural examples, phrasal verbs and practice answers.

LESSON 021 · PRONOUNS

Understanding the topic · English notes

Reflexive pronouns refer back to the subject; emphatic uses stress identity. They are not replacements for ordinary subject or object pronouns.

Use a reflexive when the subject and object refer to the same person. Use the same form for emphasis when you mean personally or without help. An emphatic reflexive can be removed without breaking the core sentence; a required reflexive object cannot simply be replaced by an unrelated pronoun.
