Indefinite pronouns refer to unspecified people or things. Many take singular verbs; some have negative or non-assertive meanings.
Someone, anyone, everyone and no one usually take singular verbs even when everyone includes many people. Use something for an unspecified thing. Singular they can refer back to a person whose gender is unknown; no one already has a negative meaning.
