Perfect, continuous and passive infinitives – Malayalam Notes

Learn perfect, continuous and passive infinitives with English and Malayalam notes, natural examples, phrasal verbs and practice answers.

LESSON 161 · INFINITIVES, GERUNDS AND PARTICIPLES

Understanding the topic · English notes

Infinitives have perfect, continuous and passive forms. These show relative time, progress and participant roles without independently carrying finite tense.

To have + participle usually places an event before the reporting or judging point. To be + -ing presents ongoing activity; to be + participle is passive. Keep the main verb's required complement pattern while adding these meanings.

Infinitive-ലും perfect, continuous, passive രൂപങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടാകാം.

To have done മുമ്പുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനം; to be doing തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്; to be done passive. ഇവ ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴും പ്രധാന verb അനുവദിക്കുന്ന complement ഘടന പാലിക്കണം.

Sentence pattern · പ്രയോഗരീതി

to have done; to be doing; to be taught

Remember: Perfect infinitives commonly place an event earlier than the main reference point.

Why this pattern works

To have + participle usually places an event before the reporting or judging point. To be + -ing presents ongoing activity; to be + participle is passive. Keep the main verb's required complement pattern while adding these meanings.

To have done മുമ്പുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനം; to be doing തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്; to be done passive. ഇവ ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോഴും പ്രധാന verb അനുവദിക്കുന്ന complement ഘടന പാലിക്കണം.
