Reported pronouns, time words and place words follow the reporter’s viewpoint. Change them only when the original reference would otherwise become inaccurate.
Change I/you, here/there and today/that day only when the reporting viewpoint requires it. A report made in the same place or on the same day may keep the original expression. Meaning takes priority over a memorised substitution list.
