LESSON 061 · VERBS AND VERB PATTERNS
Understanding the topic · English notes
Do is a main verb meaning perform and an auxiliary for questions, negatives and emphasis when another auxiliary is absent.
Auxiliary do carries tense in questions and negatives, leaving the main verb in its base form. Main-verb do can itself follow auxiliary do. In affirmative statements, stressed do/does/did adds emphasis or corrects a mistaken impression.

Do പ്രവർത്തിക്കുക എന്ന അർത്ഥത്തിലും auxiliary ആയും വരുന്നു.
Do/does/did auxiliary ആയി വന്നാൽ പിന്നിലെ main verb base form ആകണം. Did called എന്ന് പറയരുത്; did call എന്നാണ്. Positive വാക്യത്തിൽ do ചേർത്താൽ ഉറപ്പിച്ച് പറയുന്ന ഊന്നൽ ലഭിക്കും.
Sentence pattern · പ്രയോഗരീതി
do homework; do not know; did you go?
Remember: The lexical verb stays in its base form after do/does/did.
