LESSON 075 · TENSES AND ASPECT
Understanding the topic · English notes
Past perfect marks a situation earlier than a past reference point. Use it when the relationship needs clarification or emphasis.
Use had + past participle to look back from another past point. Past perfect makes the earlier event explicit, but it is not needed for every event in a story. When before or after already makes the order clear, past simple may also be natural.
Before/after കൊണ്ട് ക്രമം വ്യക്തമായാൽ past simple-ഉം സ്വാഭാവികമാകും.
Sentence pattern · പ്രയോഗരീതി
had + past participle
Remember: Do not force past perfect into every sentence with two past events.
