Reporting verbs and their complement patterns – Malayalam Notes

Learn reporting verbs and their complement patterns with English and Malayalam notes, natural examples, phrasal verbs and practice answers.

LESSON 184 · REPORTED SPEECH

Understanding the topic · English notes

Reporting verbs select particular complements and sometimes prepositions. Match the structure to the verb instead of applying one reporting formula to every message.

Learn each reporting verb with its complement: admit doing, deny doing, promise to do, insist on doing. Prepositions require an -ing form when followed by a verb. A that-clause is available with some verbs but not automatically with all.
