Relative clauses with where, when and why – Malayalam Notes

Learn relative clauses with where, when and why with English and Malayalam notes, natural examples, phrasal verbs and practice answers.

LESSON 151 · CLAUSES

Understanding the topic · English notes

Where, when and why introduce relative clauses connected to places, times and reasons. They correspond to appropriate preposition-plus-which expressions.

Use where for a place relationship, when for a time relationship, and why for a reason. A place noun does not automatically require where: if the missing element is a direct object, use which/that instead. Compare the café where we met with the café that we liked.

സ്ഥലബന്ധത്തിന് where, സമയബന്ധത്തിന് when, കാരണത്തിന് why. Place noun കണ്ടതുകൊണ്ട് മാത്രം where വേണ്ട. We liked the café എന്നതിൽ café object ആയതിനാൽ the café that we liked എന്നാണ്.
