Focusing adverbs highlight alternatives. Put only near the constituent you intend to restrict, especially when ambiguity matters.
Only limits the alternatives, even adds a surprising member, and just can mean recently or simply. Place the focusing word close to the part you mean to highlight. Spoken stress also helps listeners interpret the scope.
