LESSON 154 · CLAUSES
Understanding the topic · English notes
Reason clauses explain why; purpose clauses explain an intended goal. Purpose often takes so that with can, could, will or would.
A reason explains what caused an action; a purpose explains the intended goal. Because introduces a reason, while so that often introduces a purpose with can/could. A desired purpose is not automatically an achieved result.
So that ലക്ഷ്യമോ ഉദ്ദേശ്യമോ പറയാം.
Sentence pattern ·
because she was tired; so that she could rest
Remember: A purpose may fail to happen; a reason is not the same as an intention.

Why this pattern works
A reason explains what caused an action; a purpose explains the intended goal. Because introduces a reason, while so that often introduces a purpose with can/could. A desired purpose is not automatically an achieved result.
So that ലക്ഷ്യമോ ഉദ്ദേശ്യമോ പറയാം.
