പുതിയ ഓഫീസിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ “Where is the meeting room?” എന്ന് ചോദിച്ചാൽ മുറി കണ്ടെത്താൻ വേണ്ട വിവരം ലഭിക്കും. “Is this the meeting room?” എന്ന ചോദ്യത്തിന് സാധാരണ yes അല്ലെങ്കിൽ no മതി. Wh-questions ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് ഒരാളെയോ സ്ഥലത്തെയോ കാരണത്തെയോ കുറിച്ച് കൂടുതൽ വിവരം ചോദിക്കാനാണ്.
എന്താണ് അറിയേണ്ടത്?
Who — ആര്. “Who is your trainer?” — നിങ്ങളുടെ പരിശീലകൻ ആരാണ്? What — എന്ത്. “What do you need?” — നിങ്ങൾക്ക് എന്താണ് വേണ്ടത്? Where — എവിടെ. “Where do you live?” — നിങ്ങൾ എവിടെയാണ് താമസിക്കുന്നത്? Why — എന്തുകൊണ്ട്. “Why is the shop closed?” — കട എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ് അടച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്?
When — എപ്പോൾ. “When does the class start?” — ക്ലാസ് എപ്പോഴാണ് തുടങ്ങുന്നത്? How — എങ്ങനെ. “How did you get here?” — നിങ്ങൾ എങ്ങനെ ഇവിടെയെത്തി? How എന്ന വാക്ക് wh കൊണ്ട് തുടങ്ങുന്നില്ലെങ്കിലും ഇതേ കൂട്ടത്തിൽ പഠിക്കാറുണ്ട്. “How long” ദൈർഘ്യം ചോദിക്കും. “How many” എണ്ണം ചോദിക്കും.
Be verb ഉള്ള ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ
“The keys are on the shelf.” എവിടെയെന്ന് ചോദിക്കാൻ “Where are the keys?” എന്ന് പറയൂ. Question word ന് പിന്നാലെ am, is, are, was, were എന്നിവയിൽ അനുയോജ്യമായത് വരും. “Why were you late?” — എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ് നിങ്ങൾ വൈകിയത്? “Where are the keys?” എന്നതിൽ do ചേർക്കേണ്ടതില്ല.
Action verb ഉള്ള ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ
“Where does your sister work?” — നിങ്ങളുടെ സഹോദരി എവിടെയാണ് ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്നത്? ക്രമം where + does + your sister + work. Does വന്നാൽ works എന്നതിനു പകരം work ഉപയോഗിക്കുക. കഴിഞ്ഞ കാര്യത്തിന് “When did she call?” — അവൾ എപ്പോഴാണ് വിളിച്ചത്? Did നു ശേഷം call ആണ്. Modal ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ “What can I bring?” — ഞാൻ എന്തു കൊണ്ടുവരാം? — എന്നപോലെ can ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.
Who called? Who did you call?
“Who called you?” — ആരാണ് നിങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചത്? ഇവിടെ വിളിച്ചയാളാണ് അറിയേണ്ടത്. Who തന്നെയാണ് subject, അതിനാൽ സാധാരണ did ചേർക്കില്ല. “Who did you call?” — നിങ്ങൾ ആരെയാണ് വിളിച്ചത്? ഇവിടെ you ആണ് subject. വിളിച്ചത് ആരെയാണെന്ന് ചോദിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ did ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. “What happened?” എന്നതും subject question ആണ്.

സ്കൂളിലേക്ക് ഫോൺ ചെയ്യുന്നതായി കരുതൂ. ആദ്യം “When does the meeting start?” എന്ന് ചോദിക്കാം. സമയം കിട്ടിയാൽ “Where should I wait?” എന്ന് ചോദിക്കാം. ഉത്തരം കേട്ടശേഷം “Thank you. I’ll wait near the office” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞ് മനസ്സിലായ വിവരം ഉറപ്പാക്കാം.
