A fragment lacks the independent structure required in its context. A run-on joins main clauses without adequate punctuation or conjunctions. Some fragments are intentional in conversation.
Formal writing usually requires an independent clause, while conversation can use fragments meaningfully. Repair a run-on with a full stop, semicolon or suitable conjunction. A because-clause on its own may need its main clause restored.
