Past simple locates events or states in a finished past period. Questions and negatives usually use did plus the base form.
Use the past form in positive sentences about a finished past period. Did/didn't takes a base verb, even if the verb is irregular. Be is different: was/were makes its own questions and negatives.

Simple past: how to form negatives and questions
Positive: They turned up late. Negative: They did not turn up late. Question: Did they turn up late?
കഴിഞ്ഞ സമയത്ത് പൂർത്തിയായ സംഭവം പറയാൻ simple past ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. Did അല്ലെങ്കിൽ did not വന്നാൽ main verb അടിസ്ഥാനരൂപത്തിൽ വേണം. Did they turned up? എന്നത് തെറ്റാണ്; Did they turn up? എന്നാണ് ശരി.
Regular and irregular verbs
Regular verbs usually add -ed: work → worked. Irregular verbs change differently: go → went, buy → bought, write → wrote. Learn the past form with a useful sentence: “I bought a notebook yesterday.”
എല്ലാ verb-കൾക്കും -ed ചേർത്താൽ past tense ആകില്ല. Go-യുടെ past went ആണ്; buy-യുടെ past bought ആണ്. വാക്യത്തോടൊപ്പം പഠിക്കുന്നത് പ്രയോഗം ഓർക്കാൻ സഹായിക്കും.
Be is different: She was tired. / She was not tired. / Was she tired? With you, we and they, use were.
