Understanding the topic · English notes
Use the present simple for habits, states and general situations. Add -s/-es with third-person singular subjects; use do/does in most questions.
Use a base verb with I/you/we/they and add -s/-es with he/she/it in positive statements. In questions and negatives, does carries the singular marking, so the main verb returns to its base form. Use the tense for routines rather than only actions happening now.

Simple present: statements, negatives and questions
- I/you/we/they: I wake up at seven. / I do not wake up at seven. / Do you wake up at seven?
- He/she/it: She wakes up at seven. / She does not wake up at seven. / Does she wake up at seven?
He, she, it എന്നിവയ്ക്കൊപ്പം positive വാക്യത്തിൽ സാധാരണ verb-ന് -s അല്ലെങ്കിൽ -es ചേർക്കണം. Does വന്നാൽ main verb അടിസ്ഥാനരൂപത്തിൽ ആയിരിക്കണം: Does she wake up? എന്നാണ്; Does she wakes up? എന്നല്ല.
Habits versus actions happening now
I work from home. This describes a regular situation. I am working from home today. This describes a temporary situation. See simple present versus present continuous.
പതിവുകൾക്കും പൊതുവായ സത്യങ്ങൾക്കും simple present ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ നടക്കുന്ന പ്രവൃത്തികൾക്കും താൽക്കാലിക സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾക്കും present continuous ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.
Be is different: She is ready. / She is not ready. / Is she ready? Do not add does to these forms of be.
