All and both refer to complete sets; whole modifies a singular unit; none means not any. Agreement with none depends on reference.
Use both for two and all for a complete larger set or amount. Whole usually goes with a singular countable unit, as in the whole day. None of can take singular or plural agreement depending on the noun and intended meaning.
