Possessive nouns and the genitive – Malayalam Notes

Learn possessive nouns and the genitive with English and Malayalam notes, natural examples, phrasal verbs and practice answers.

LESSON 014 · NOUNS

Understanding the topic · English notes

Use apostrophe-s for many singular possessors and an apostrophe after regular plural -s. The of construction is also common.

For one owner, add apostrophe + s; for a regular plural owner ending in s, add only the apostrophe. Irregular plurals such as children take apostrophe + s. The apostrophe shows the possessor, so first decide whether one person or several people own the item.
