Most plurals add -s or -es; other nouns change internally or keep the same form. Learn irregular plurals as vocabulary.
Check both the ending and the verb that follows a plural subject. Child becomes children, person commonly becomes people, and shelf becomes shelves. Some words, such as sheep, have the same singular and plural form; context and determiners show the number.
